Community Fund

Moorabool Wind Farm is committed to the Moorabool Shire community and to strengthening relationships with the local community. Each year, financial support will be provided for projects that will provide lasting benefits to the local community. The aim of the fund is to:

  • Give back to the Community in which Moorabool Wind Farm will be a long term neighbour
  • Promote positive and long term results for the local community
  • Promote sustainability
  • Strengthen community connections
  • Encourage social well being.

To date, Moorabool Wind Farm has invested more than $450,000 in the local community through its community funding, local sponsorships, and community partnerships. More details can be found here.

Due to the timing of turbine commissioning, we have an additional round of funding available in 2022. From 2023 onwards, we will have a single annual Round.

Moorabool Wind Farm Community Fund & Scholarships Round Four - 2022

Round Four of the Moorabool Wind Farm Community Fund is now open for applications.

Applications have been extended and will be welcomed from eligible community groups until 11:59pm on Wednesday 19 October 2022.

Individual assistance will be given by a Moorabool team member across these times, so if you have any concerns with using the online application portal or the requirements for applying, please make sure you get in touch and book a time.

The Guidelines for the Scholarship Fund are available here.

Applications will be welcomed from eligible students (must have a permanent address in or have relocated for study from the Moorabool Shire LGA) until 11:59pm on Wednesday 19 October 2022. 

Scholarships can be awarded to a community member undertaking studies from any age, for any level of education (e.g. primary, secondary, tertiary) and will be decided based on eligibility and the selection criteria noted in the guidelines.

Moorabool Wind Farm Community Fund Round Three - 2022

Round Three was open for applications from 1 May - 24 June 2022.

Thank you to the local community groups that applied for funding. Applicants have now been informed of the successful projects and an update will be provided soon here once agreements are in place.

Federation University Ballarat - Moorabool Wind Farm Scholarships - 2022

Moorabool Wind Farm is proud to support four local TAFE students with scholarships as part of its ongoing long-term community partnership program.

Tylah Freeman, Jake Mumford, Angelo Pereira and Leland Smith, who are all Moorabool district locals were awarded the annual Moorabool Wind Farm Scholarships, worth $3,000 per student to support the completion of their TAFE Certificate lll course.

Moorabool Wind Farm Community Fund Round Two - 2021

Moorabool wind farm was pleased to fund eight successful local initiatives in the second round of the community fund:

  • Mount Egerton Fire Brigade - Fire Brigade Fire Fighting Equipment
  • Ballan Recreation Reserve - Community Hub Kitchen Facility Upgrade
  • Ballan Stationeers - Ballan Station Native Grassland Project
  • Ballark and District Gun Club - Two new trap houses
  • Gordon Public Park Hall at the Gordon Public Park Reserve - Energy efficiency upgrade
  • Moorabool Landcare Network - Nursery renovation to assist in regeneration
  • Meredith Community Centre - Community social lunches
  • Ballan Golf Club - Pedestrian Bridges
